TOP DOGS-The Top Dogs are off to a wonderful start! We have had a busy week. We worked on “preschool basics” and learning our “school rules”. We heard the story about Letter People Land and Mr. M Munching Mouth. After practicing our special knock, and calling for Mr. M to come out and play, he did! He even brought us his favorite cookie-Oreos! We read “Chicka Chicka Boom Boom” and learned a chant that goes with it. We also read lots of books about dogs, since we are the Top Dogs! We played outside, ate lunch, did art and partners and centers. We took a “field trip” to the bathroom to make sure all Top Dogs know where it is and know the process of going. We also have “Potty People” where we encourage each Top Dog to try to use the restroom. On Friday, we had our first Top Dog initiation, dance contest, and had gym class where we played Duck, Duck, Goose. Next week we will be introducing the letter “A” with the letter people and Miss “A” who has bad allergies. She says “a-a-a-chooooo”. Stay tuned!

Cool Cats News: The Cool Cats had a great start to the school year. They all come in happily and are ready to engage in activities at school. The Cool Cats are great listeners and are adjusting well to our school routines. Our Weekly Roundup will cover each part of our morning starting with our Center Time. When your student comes to school they will hang up their backpack and enter our Center Classroom. This time is from 9:00-9:45. We set out new activities every two weeks and include books, an art table with coloring sheets/markers/crayons/stickers, puzzles, pretend play items, blocks, small muscle manipulative toys, sensory items, and a felt board. This is a special time that they can play with what interests them. We encourage the Cool Cats to ‘clean up right away so they get more time to play’. We also will pull the students aside to work on special projects with the teacher one on one, including using art supplies, counting objects, and writing their names as the year progresses. We look forward to getting to know the Cool Cats this year!

Playful Bunnies News: The Bunnies have had a great first week. They are learning so much about our daily routines and playing with new friends! Everyday, we play in the playroom, eat snack, play in the muscle room, sing songs and read books at circle time, do some art and play outside. It’s a busy day! This week, we painted our handprints, colored with crayons, painted a bunny, used paintbrushes to paint with water outside and colored with sidewalk chalk. So much fun in only our first week!
