Mixed-up Chameleons News-(Kindergarten Preparation Class)- Today we ended our unit “F is for Fire Safety” with a Fire Safety Extravaganza! We did our study on the color purple by reading “Purplicious”, “Harold and the Purple Crayon”, participating in the “Parade of Colors” by Hap Palmer with our purple items, singing our purple song and doing a color mixing experiment. We played “Duck, Duck, Goose” for gym and made a fire safety book for art. Next week we will be learning all about the letter “G” and the color orange. We will be meeting a friendly ghost named Georgie and Curious George. We will also be learning about light for science and be doing some things with glow sticks and shadows. We are looking forward to seeing you at the open house next Tuesday.
Very Hungry Caterpillar and Very Busy Spider News: Fantastic fun was had by all for F week! We learned a ton of things about fire safety. This week we talked about how to “Stop, Drop, and Roll” if our clothes are on fire, to crawl low in smoke, to have a family meeting place outside if there ever was a fire in our house, how smoke detectors work, to never play with matches, and that firemen are our friends. We really enjoyed the visit from the Wyoming Firefighters including Graciella and Jackson’s dads, even Jackson’s grandma! Next week we will be learning all about the letter “G”.
Friday Enrichment News-This week we will start our two week Halloween theme. Think ghosts and pumpkins. Our books will be “Scary, Scary Halloween” by Eve Bunting and “Halloween Day” by Anne rockwell. Can you guess what the letter of the week is? G! Keep bringing in those pictures of the letter of the week! The children will also go over name recognition and number recognition. We have been enjoying crafts, songs and games!
Brown Bear/Polar Bear News: The highlight of our week was the fire truck visit! We learned all about fire safety, saw a firefighter in all of his special, protective clothing, and got to go inside the fire truck. So cool! Our book this past two weeks has been “Hello Pizza Man” which the children have loved. Our letter was E and we had a special visit from Evan the elephant. There was also an elephant in our letter mystery box. The children taught Shape Dog about a triangle. We finished up our fire songs and fingerplays and next week we start Halloween fun in full force. In art this week, we turned yellow pumpkins orange using a red wash, made a picture of the earth for letter E, and made a special ghost surprise. See you next Tuesday at the Open House!
