We also played two new games: “Santa and the Lost Reindeer” and “Fly Away in Santa’s Sleigh”. The preschool pals learned the games quickly and did a great job following instructions, working as a team and getting lots of exercise! We followed with our daily morning routine and then our expanded shape lesson on rectangles. Will Merkle brought in the book “Santa Visits Cincinnati” for his rectangle, so we took the opportunity read the book and talk about geography. We were able to recognize landmarks from our town and learn about our state, city and suburbs. We divided into our two groups for centers and a fun winter scene art project. We continued learning about our five senses and got to participate in playing instruments for our Christmas Band.
Very Hungry Caterpillar (VHC) and Very Busy Spider News (VBS)- “L” is for love this week, with a special focus on God’s love for us: The reason for Christmas. We talked at length about the birth of Christ, sang “Away in a Manger” and talked about the Trinity.
Friday Enrichment Class News- The whole month of December will focus on holiday fun. This week for art, we will make Christmas trees with lights and all! During our one-on-one time, the children and I will talk about wants vs needs using pictures and placing them in stockings. The kids have been working hard on name recognition during group time as well as for seating and everyone is almost there! After the new year, we will work on spelling our names. Our letter of the week is L!

We are learning “Jingle Bells,” “Ring the Bells,” “Spread Christmas Cheer,” and the “The Reindeer Pokey.” The kids love our felt board story “The Five Little Reindeer.” Our fingerplay, “Out Santa will Pop,” is also a big hit. This week in art we decorated trees, made candy canes, and made santa hats. Our letter this week was J and our Jaguar puppet made his appearance.
