Preschool Office News:  Just a heads up that we are thinking our surprise state inspection will be coming in the next few weeks.  So, if you see someone you do not know, that is probably our state inspection person.  Feel free to say hi and say how much you love our preschool!  And PLEASE, turn in your medical form if you haven’t done so already!

Mixed-up Chameleons News-(Kindergarten Preparation Class)- Today we ended our unit “F is for Fire Safety” with a Fire Safety Extravaganza!  We then started up “G is for George”, Ghosts, and Georgie the Ghost.  We read the poem “Five Little Pumpkins” and made amazing Five Little Pumpkin pictures for art.   We studied the color purple, worked on calendar activities, skip counting by two’s, counting by one’s, number recognition, and the Pledge.  We practice our writing and worked on how to choose a book and do “silent reading”.  We also played “Smoke, smoke, smoke, Fire!”

Very Hungry Caterpillar and Very Busy Spider News:   Fantastic fun was had by all for F week!  We learned a ton of things about fire safety and the VHC class enjoyed a visit and educational program from Firefighter Matt Flagler.   This week we talked about how to “Stop, Drop, and Roll” if our clothes are on fire, to crawl low in smoke, to have a family meeting place outside if there ever was a fire in our house, how smoke detectors work, to never play with matches, and that firemen are our friends. We also worked on assessing students on various skills this week as well as our common core curriculum.

Friday Enrichment News-This week we will start our two week  Halloween theme.  Think ghosts and spiders.  Can you guess what the letter of the week is?  G!  Keep bringing in those letter of the week items!  The children will also go over name recognition and number recognition.  We have been enjoying crafts, songs and games!

Brown Bear/Polar Bear News:   The highlight of our week was the fire truck visit!  What a special treat to hold the fire hose and spray water into the street – Thanks firefighter Matt!  We also learned all about fire safety, saw firefighter Matt in all of his special, protective clothing, and got to go inside the fire truck.  So cool!  Our book this past two weeks has been “Go Away Big Green Monster” which the children have loved.  Our letter was E and we had a special visit from an elephant.  There was also an elephant in our letter mystery box.  The children taught Shape Dog about a triangle.  We finished up our fire songs and fingerplays and next week we start Halloween fun in full force.  In art this week, we glittered some pumpkins, made a picture of the earth for letter E, and made a special ghost surprise that you will get to see at Open House next week. Hope to see everyone there!
