Preschool Office News:  We are asking all parents who are concerned about bug bites, or sun exposure to make sure to spray bug spray/apply sunscreen to students prior to arriving at school.  If you haven’t done so already, please bring in your child’s extra change of clothes and classroom supply.  For Friday lunches, please remember to pack a drink and spoons.  Finally, don’t forget those license plate numbers!

Mixed-up Chameleons News:   Today at school we learned LOTS of things about the color red!  We stood up and pointed to the red we were wearing while singing our red song. We did a science experiment with water, making a hypothesis/prediction/guess about what would happen when we put in a “tablet”.  We used the red items we brought to school to participate in a music and movement activity called “Colors” by Hap Palmer. We also read the book “Cat’s Colors”.  During learning centers, we had the chance to do a “Chicka, Chicka, Boom, Boom” Puzzle, use the “Chicka” tree, and play “Chicka” bingo.  Next week we will focussing on “B is for Bear” and the color blue.

Very Hungry Caterpillar and Very Busy Spider News: We are so fortunate to have two great group of preschoolers this school year!  We are off to a wonderful start and are able to do lots of things each day.  Each day, your preschooler learns Social Studies, Basic Concepts, Reading readiness skills, math skills, Science, participates in Music and Art, and is read Children’s Literature and poetry.  As the year progresses, we will add Geography, Health, History and Art skills.  To highlight our week of Social Studies, we sang our Welcome song, went over our “How I Act” plan, had calendar activities, weather and weather wheel, learned how to sit on the rug, and learned The Pledge of Allegiance.  We moved our body to the sounds the “magic slide whistle” made and followed the “pointer stick”.  Next week we will be focussing on “B is for Bear”.

Panda Bear News:   The two year old class had a very successful first full week. At circle time, we did our fish felt board story where the kids practice 9 different colors and counting.  We sang the song “Wheels on the Bus” and our “Hello” song.

This week during art we played with playdough and we painted with shaving cream.  On Friday, we painted with real paint and brushes.  You probably know the color based on your kids clothing!  The kids did a fabulous job walking down the hall in a line today. In the next couple of weeks you might hear them singing our hallway song, “Put your finger on the wall.” Lastly, the kids had a good time outside playing. It has been fun getting to know your children even better this week. They are a great group!

Friday Enrichment Class News  This next week we will continue learning our routine and our preschool pals names.  The children had a wonderful class last week and we hope to continue through the whole year!  Take a moment to check out our art room, we have our finger painting art project hanging up.  Next week our letter will be B.  Please have your child bring in a picture that starts with the letter B for us to hang on the alphabet wall.  Next week we will also be reading “The Kissing Hand” by Audrey Penn and “My First Day at Nursery School” by Becky Edwards.
