Wyoming Superintendent Search

Hello preschool families,

Superintendent Dr. Susan Lang will be retiring at the end of the school year and the search has started for the next Superintendent of Wyoming City Schools. The Board of Education has engaged national search firm Hazard, Young, Attea & Associates (HYA) to assist them in this work. One of the reasons the board chose HYA is their thorough process for obtaining stakeholder feedback.

Wyoming community members have many opportunities to offer input in the process. One tool that HYA uses is an online survey accessible to all community members. Please use this link to access the survey:

The survey takes a few minutes to complete and is scheduled to close on February 1.

The second tool is stakeholder focus groups and conversations. A stakeholder session for preschool families and Wyoming Newcomers Club members has been scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, at the Wyoming Civic Center, 1 Worthington Avenue. In addition to this session, all community members are invited to attend any and all sessions (Wednesday, Jan. 23-Friday, Jan. 25) that coincide with the many roles they may fill in Wyoming. Information about all stakeholder sessions can be found using these links: Stakeholder Group Meeting Schedule and Stakeholder Group Meeting Schedule listed by group.

Stakeholder sessions will be conducted by HYA and will be framed by 5 questions:

What’s going well?
What are challenges to be addressed?
What is a question that you think would be important for the school board to ask candidates during interviews?
What traits would you like to see in the next superintendent?
Do you know someone you would recommend to be the next superintendent?

Sessions are scheduled to last 45 minutes and there is no need to RSVP.

HYA will use the results of the survey and focus groups to build the district’s leadership profile. This profile will be presented to the Board of Education at a public board meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12 and will be posted on the district’s website in the following days. The Board will use this document when considering candidates.

The search timeline is expected to result in approval of a superintendent by April. More information about the search is available on the Superintendent Search page of the district’s website.

Please don’t hesitate to let me know if you have any questions.
