Holiday Giving Project

Dear Preschool Pals and Parents,

Each year we usually have a Thanksgiving Food Drive, where we collect food to donate to Valley Food and Clothing.  This year, we are going to change things up a bit and join the A&HT church congregation with their service project.  Judy Cordes is the lead for the project, and she explains the details in the following letter.  Please note that we will be collecting out on the playground-on the small picnic table by the mailbox.  We have found this to be a great opportunity for our children to begin to learn about giving. During this time, we will be talking about those who have less than us, those who have more than us, and about the importance of giving to others through material items, as well as through “good works”.We will have each preschool pal talk about what they donated and place on the collection table inside, outside of Cindy’s Office.  We will start collecting on Thursday, November 2nd and end November 30th.  Such a wonderful opportunity to work together to help the under resourced!

Dear Parishioners, Preschool Families & Pals,

It’s time once again to kick off the annual Holiday Sharing Tree Program! As a parish we have always helped Valley Interfaith with this major Christmas gift project that has done so much for needy families in our area. This year there are some exciting changes!  Our preschool will be joining us in collecting donations!  In addition, for those who enjoy choosing gifts for children, Valley is accepting toys along with gift cards and food!   Together we will be providing help during the holiday season that is greatly appreciated!

Food Donation

Valley is again asking for bags of wide egg noodles to supplement food supplies. Noodles can be dropped off at the church during business hours: Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 1 PM, or anytime the church is open. There will be baskets in the narthex to collect the noodles.

Toys for Children 11 yrs. and Under

A special area at Valley will be set up with shelves of toys for parents to choose a gift for each child under 12 yr.  Donated toys should be new, unwrapped, and about $20-$25. Please bring toys to the church and place in the baskets under the Sharing Tree in the Narthex, or leave with Amy in the office.

Gift Cards

This year we are collecting $25 gift cards from Target or Walmart.  Our goal is 60 gift cards. You can mail cards to A&HT, or bring them to church and give to Amy in the office or drop in the mail slot on her door.  Each child that Valley serves will receive a gift card for clothing.  Children 12 and older will receive a second gift card in lieu of a toy.

We will also accept checks made out to A&HT with a note indicating Valley’s Holiday Sharing Program, and we will use the money to buy gift cards.

Each week you can watch our contributions grow at our Sharing Tree in the narthex and our virtual Sharing Tree pictured in the parish newsletter. For every 5 gift cards we receive, one ornament will be added to our trees. For every 5 toys donated, one virtual present will be placed under the trees. Help decorate our Sharing Trees and make Christmas a bit more special for our neighbors in need!

Please call Judy Cordes (513-703-8996) with any questions.

Thank you SO much!
