Teaching Rhyming Words
One of the goals and objectives for preschoolers is teaching rhyming words. The following are a few ideas to teach your preschoolers.
- Read a book together that has rhyming words. Talk about how the word has a different beginning sound, but the same ending sound. Some of our preschooler’s favorite rhyming book include, “Hop on Pop” and “Frog on Log”. Any doctor Seuss book is usually has lots of rhyming words in it.
- Now point to an object, such as your nose. Ask your preschooler to think of something that rhymes with nose. Repeat with eye, ear, etc.
- Now ask your preschooler to give an example of two words that rhyme.
