TOP DOGS NEWS: This week we talked about how to be a good friend and read books about “Clark the Shark”. We continued to learn about the days of the week and read “Cookies Week”. We continued to work on the pledge of allegiance and learning about a morning routine. Mr. Cotton Candy came to visit and brought us some goodies from the County Fair. We learned all about the color green and Pete the Cat! Another wonderful week of Preschool!
COOL CATS and Kittens NEWS: The Cool Cats and Kittens had such a fun week learning about the letter D. To celebrate D, we read books about ducks and donuts. We even made a donut during art time with puffy paint and real sprinkles. We continued our bug theme by reading more Eric Carle books like The Very Busy Spider and The Very Grouchy Ladybug. The Cats did a mini lesson on telling time when they listened to The Very Grouchy Ladybug while the Kittens practiced color recognition and counting while listening to a book about butterflies. During our center time, we made caterpillars out of circles, practiced tracing a triangle, and used magnifying glasses to study some bugs up close. On Friday, we got to hunt for Letter D cards hidden in the classroom, and we found a dinosaur in our mystery bag. At the end of C week, we made cities with the Cats and Kittens driving cars. (see the photo) During snack time everyone LOVES looking at the city on the bulletin board and everyone driving around town! Here are some things we talk about every day during circle time Calendar concepts: 7 days in a week, 12 months in a year, we name the day of the week, the date and the month, we sing the days of the week and the months of the year Counting: we count on the calendar starting with the first day of the month, adding on every day Alphabet: we review the letters we have already studied, talk about the letter of the week and sing the A, B, C song Shapes: Each week we introduce a new shape Weather: Each day we describe the weather
