Mixed-up Chameleons News-(Pre-K)-Today we learned all about the color Green!  Father Eric came in to talk to us about God’s blessings and we wrapped up our study on the letter “D”, and introduced “E” is for Engine.  We continued to work on our core curriculum, reading workshop, and writing workshop.

Very Hungry Caterpillar and Very Busy Spider News:  “D” is for Dog, Clifford the Big Red!  This week we made Clifford Ears, used dotters, and sculpted with playdough during art times.  We sang our “Welcome Song”, recited what the date was, and sang our Days of the Week song.  We also met “Doctor Denise the Dentist” and sang a silly song about a dog named Ditto.  Our color was green, our shape was a rectangle, and we practiced estimating how many of Pete’s Groovy Buttons were in our Estimation Jar.

Brown Bear/Polar Bear News:  The 2’s had a great week.  We missed our friends who were sick, and we’re glad everyone is getting better.  We wrapped up our September unit this week.  We continued all of the same stories and songs from the last couple of weeks with one fun addition.  Shape Dog made his first appearance at circle time.  Shape Dog is a puppet who needs a lot of practice at his shapes.  Every week, the teachers and children try to teach Shape Dog a new shape.  He makes a lot of mistakes, but he usually finds the correct shape on the fourth try.  Thankfully, the children (with a little guidance from their teachers) are there to tell him when he is wrong or correct.  The letter this week was C.  We talked about C with the help of our cow puppet.  There was a car inside of our letter mystery box!  For art this week, we made our very own clouds.  (Look for this project again in the winter when we make our own snow!)  We also decorated candy corn in honor of the letter C.  Lastly, we played with play dough.  What a fun week!  Next week we start a whole new unit filled with Halloween fun!

Friday Enrichment News-   We have finished up our “All About Fall” unit today with a wonderful nature walk.  The kids really enjoyed exploring the neighborhood while looking for signs of fall and then sorting all of our finds.  We also enjoyed getting our animals blessed by Father Eric.  Next, we will be moving onto our Fire Safety unit!
