PLAYFUL BUNNIES NEWS:   The Bunnies have such a great time playing with their friends!  We’ve been continuing with our bug theme with some more fun books by Eric Carle – The Very Busy Spider and The Very Quiet Cricket. Of course, we still love The Very Hungry Caterpillar and remembered it while we did some caterpillar crafts –  glueing lots of food on a leaf for the caterpillar, painting and coloring an egg carton caterpillar, and using small toy food and playdough to make caterpillars. We also read In the Tall, Tall Grass and had fun digging around in a box of our own tall, tall grass to find different  bugs and animals – then even looking at them through magnifying glasses.  So much fun!

COOL CATS NEWS: The Cool Cats learned about the letter ‘D’ and a square.  We read books about Dinosaurs, Donuts, Dragons, and Dogs.  Our crafts included glueing dragon parts on the letter D and painting a pink donut on a paper plate and covering it with real craft sprinkles.  We also buried lots of tiny dinosaurs in play dough as we made our own dinosaur fossils and footprints.  Our pictures this week depict the Cool Cat’s routine for coming into school each morning.  We are working on lots of independent skills at school starting with hanging up their own backpacks and coats (if needed).  The students then come to find their name ticket on a bench and hang it on their picture in the classroom.  We are working on name recognition and the students are able to visually see who is at school and who is missing.  It’s fun to watch our Cool Cats Community develop from this simple task.

Also, we have purchased a new rug for the Cool Cat Classroom and solid bookshelf for the snack room from the Bike A Thon fundraiser last year. Thank you!!!!  We even had some very interested helpers in assembling the bookshelf.

TOP DOGS NEWS:  This week we talked about how to be a good friend and read books about “Clark the Shark”.    Mr. Cotton Candy came to visit and brought us some goodies from the County Fair.  We learned all about the color green and Pete the Cat!  Another wonderful week of Preschool!
