Preschool Office News:  (Mrs. Cindy)- Just a heads up that we are thinking our surprise state inspection will be coming in the next few weeks.  So, if you see someone you do not know, that is probably our state inspection person.  Feel free to say hi and how much you love our preschool!

A big THANKS to everyone who came to our open house.  We hope you enjoyed galloping down the cowboy trail!

Let me know if you are interested in helping to set up tables and chairs for the Halloween party.  We are hoping to do this the day before the party.

Mixed-up Chameleons News-(Kindergarten Preparation Class)- (Mrs. Sandy & Mrs. Mandy)  What an exciting day at school today!  We started off the day with learning centers and jumped right into learning time. We had a lesson on the color purple and studied “Mr. Dry Bones”.  We also read the book I Can Read With My Eyes Shut.  (Thanks Drew Geygan!)  We spent a lot of time wrapping up our fire safety unit and reviewing our fire safety rules.  Then it was time for the Fiesta!  We made maracas, had chips and salsa, (thanks Ella Engelhardt), did a Mexican hat dance, had Luke Bevington’s mom come to speak, and, of course, broke open the giant “F” piñata!    At home:  Keep working with those letter flashcards, and write, write, write!

Very Hungry Caterpillar and Very Busy Spider News:  (Mrs. Sandy & Mrs. Mandy)-  Fantastic fun was had by all for F week!  We learned a ton of things about fire safety, enjoyed a visit from the fire fighters, read a great story called A Frog in the Bog that Fletcher Barnes brought in, and learned about fish.  The morning class even got a special fishing lesson from Maggie and Charlie Brennan’s grandpa Mike.  We learned about the color purple, rectangles, and the number 5.  We also worked on assessing students on various skills this week.

Friday Fun News-(Mrs. Susan)-(9:15-11:45)  This week we will start our two week  Halloween theme.  Can you guess what the letter of the week is?  G!  Keep bringing in those letter of the week items!  The children will also go over spelling their names, writing their names and number recognition.  We have been enjoying crafts, songs and games!

Brown Bear/Polar Bear News:  (Mrs. Katrina & Mrs. Kim)-  We have been finishing up our fire fighter unit.  In art we assembled fire trucks using glue sticks.  We like to think of the finished product as abstract fire trucks.   Today, we made pictures of fire using paper, paint and golf balls.  The kids had a great time shaking box lids to get their golf balls to roll through the paint.  During circle time we have been singing “Never Play with Matches” and “The Firefighter Song.”  We have also been enjoying our finger play about the five firefighters.  Next week we start our Halloween Fun unit.  This is one of our favorite units.  Kids, even at 2 and 3, just seem to naturally love Halloween.
