Office News:  If you haven’t done so already, please bring in your Christmas party supply by Monday.  We are setting up for the party on Tuesday morning.  Thanks so much!

Mixed-up Chameleons News (MUC)-(Kindergarten Preparation Class)- Five senses fun at preschool today!  We started off by singing and dancing to our “High Five” song by TMBG.  We then used our eyes to find three Christmas decorations hidden throughout the classroom.  We read The Nose Book by Al Perkins for the sense of smell, and ate some yummy mini Reese cups for taste.  For hearing, we got out our instruments and played the song “Play the Band it’s Christmas Time”.  For touch, we got to take home a shell that was sent in from Isabel and Coco Helfrich from Florida, and go to the gym for PARACHUTE GAMES!  We also showed the shape we brought in and had lots of fun with glitter at the art table.  We’re looking forward to our “Number Days” starting in January.  Also, don’t forget to build some recycled buildings for our neighborhood study starting in January.

Very Hungry Caterpillar (VHC) and Very Busy Spider News (VBS)-  This week, during learning center team time, we played color/shape Bingo, played a “smelling” game, made Christmas cookies with sprinkles, and a mug of hot chocolate with marshmallows.  We also assessed the days of the week, finished up with name and age recognition, started ABC sounds and recognition and noted our progress with social and emotional development skills.  Our Mystery Present contained bells from the Polar Express, Christmas Cookie Sprinkles, (The Christmas Cookie Sprinkle Snitcher visited this week) and our scent “smelling” game.  We also read the book The Grinch Who Stole Christmas by Doctor Seuss.  We noted that the Grinch and the Snitcher were cousins, and God turned both of their hearts around; from bad to good.  Our color this week was green/verde, our number was 11, our shape was a “bonus” shape:  trapezoid, and our letter was the letter “M”.   Since next week is a short week, and we will be practicing for our Christmas program, we will be keeping everything the same.

Friday Enrichment Class News-(Mrs. Susan)-No class this week, we will be on holiday break.  Enjoy your Christmas and see you all in 2013!

Brown Bear/Polar Bear News:  (Mrs. Katrina & Mrs. Kim)-  This week we created Christmas trees trimmed with Trix cereal as ornaments and painted stripes on candy canes by rolling golf balls in red paint and shaking them in a box.  We had so much fun!!  On Monday we will continue to practice our holiday songs in preparation for our Christmas party.  Can’t wait to celebrate with everyone on Thursday – ho, ho, ho!!
