Mixed-up Chameleons News-(Kindergarten Preparation Class)- (Mrs. Sandy & Mrs. Mandy) –What a fun day to walk in the snow and go to the Wyoming Fine Arts Center! During our field trip, we participated in a music class taught by Mrs. Mary. Milan then did a short presentation and taught the class the following words and definitions:
Violin Bow – stick used to play the violin.
Bow Hair – part of the bow (hair) that comes from the horse’s tail
Accompaniment – when music plays along with the song, filling in around the melody
Number of strings on the violin: 4
We ended our field trip by having a tour of the fine arts center building. Who knew it used to be a Masonic Temple? After heading back to school, we ate lunch and spent some time in the muscle room.
Very Hungry Caterpillar and Very Busy Spider News: (Mrs. Sandy & Mrs. Mandy)- This week we learned more about “People in our Neighborhood” to go with our letter of the week: “P”. We read the books Doctor Ted, Firefighter Ted, and Clifford Visits the Hospital which included a visit from Clifford, of course. We practiced our songs for the Community Helper performance and had Jarred’s mom visit to show us how to felt. We also had Julie Stegman visit and let us see her “prickly” hedgehog Oliver. We talked a little more about MLKJ day, read our poem “The Buckle Up News” and participated in our daily learning activities.
Friday Enrichment Class-(Mrs. Susan)-(9:15-11:45)- This week we will be expanding on the snow theme by talking about hibernation, in particular bears. The children will get to make a circle bear and go on a bear hunt! This week’s letter is N. I was very impressed with everyone’s effort writing last weeks letter M. Keep up the good work!
Panda Bear News: (Mrs. Katrina & Mrs. Kim)- This will be our last week for our feltboard story “Five Little Snowmen” and our movement exercise “Put Your Snow Clothes On.” We will finish up our community helper songs: “Brush Your Teeth,” “Mr. Grocer,” and “Be a Cook.” We will repeat the letter P next week since it didn’t quite the attention it deserved. The shape next week will be a circle. We will continue with “The Silly Dance Contest” and do some more “silly” dancing next week.
