Preschool Office News:  (Mrs. Cindy)- I’m still collecting Parky’s Farm RSVP forms.  Please bring them in as soon as you can.  Thanks!

Mixed-up Chameleons News-(Kindergarten Preparation Class)-  Today we learned a new welcome song, participated in the music and movement songs “Shake Something” and “Colors” by Hap Palmer, and “Shapes” by Greg and Steve.  We worked on our calendar activities, looked for letters around the classroom, made sunflowers during art, and shared our signs of Spring with our Preschool Pals.  We also read the books Chicka Chicka Boom Boom and Pete the Cat and His Four Groovy Buttons.

Very Hungry Caterpillar and Very Busy Spider News-  This week we learned about the letter “S” for seasons and spring.  We made a list of signs of spring, read books about spring looking for signs of spring, and learned a song about spring.  We also compared and contrasted spring to the other seasons of the year.  It was easy to compare spring with winter, because of the snowstorm. We even go to see an authentic bird’s nest.  We made lots of projects with flowers for art this week, including popcorn flowers, egg carton flowers, and chalk board flowers.

Friday Enrichment Class with Mrs. Susan:  Dinosaur eggs are done and they look fantastic!  The children enjoyed the painting and we all agreed it was a lot of work to cover the whole egg with paint.  We are going to save the eggs and show them off at the art show.  This week we will be talking about St. Patrick’s Day, shamrocks, potatoes and what lies at the end of the rainbow.  All of this week’s activities will focus on counting and number recognition.  The letter this week will be V.  Time to bring out those vests!

Brown Bear/Polar Bear News:  (Mrs. Katrina & Mrs. Kim)-  Our field trip to Parky’s Farm gets closer and closer.  Next week we will start some farm themed crafts.  In Monday/Tuesday’s art project, the kids will be getting their pigs all “muddy.”  We will start two new fingerplays next week:  “Little Chick, Little Chick” and “Little Puppy.”  We will continue with our same songs “We’re going to the Farm” (Farmer in the Dell), “Farm Sounds” (Wheels on the Bus), and P-I-G-G-Y (Bingo).  The children have loved our story the past two weeks.  Make sure to ask your child about Pete the Cat and his New White Shoes.  A lot of things happen to Pete’s new shoes, but Pete is one cool cat who takes everything in stride.
