Cool Cats and Kittens News-This week the Cats and Kittens focused on the letter F.  We read books about fish, firefighters, and farms.  After reading The Rainbow Fish, we made fish during craft time and later in the week added fish scales using celery dipped in paint.  We have had a lot of fun reading books about fire trucks and firefighters. Fireman Small even went to a farm to put out a fire in a barn. We spent Tuesday’s art time outside painting fire on large paper and used large paint brushes dipped in water to “put out” a wall of chalk fire. That was a definitely a hit with the Cats and Kittens! Every week the Cats work on writing the letter of the week, upper case and lower case with a proper grip on the pencil.  Everyone is working on name recognition and the Cats are working on writing their names. The number of the week was 5.  Each week we count up to the number of the week.  We also learned about rectangles which seem to be very easy to spot throughout the classroom! On Thursday, we celebrated Gus’ second birthday! It was another great week.

Top Dogs News- Miss E Exercise was with us this week and boy did she make us work!  We had to peel hard boiled eggs, egg races, egg hunts, and we exercised with an obstacle course!  We have been learning about the parts of the body, the color orange, the letter E, the song “I’ve Been Working on the Railroad” and  “5 Little Monkeys Sitting in a Tree.”
