Kool-Aid Playdough
This is the absolutely best recipe I have tried for playdough. My friend from Wittenberg, Ingrid, got this recipe while teaching in Ashland, Ohio, and passed it on to me.
Kool Aid Playdough
2 to 3 cups of flour
1/2 cup of salt
2 pkg. of Kool-aid (use the same flavor, and use the small, unsweetened packets)
3 T of oil (vegetable, canola, etc.)
2 cups very hot water (from the tap is fine)
Mix the dry ingredients together. Slowly add the liquid ingredients. Knead until the dough is cool. Add more flour if the mixture is too sticky.
Notes: Have the kids help with mixing the dry ingredients. It’s a good idea if an adult mixes in the hot water. Also, after mixing, wait a few minutes before adding extra flour. This playdough lasts a super long time. At school we try to change it out monthly, (because of germs), but at home I’ve had some last close to a year. Keep in a plastic bag, or air tight container. Please keep in mind that playdough is great for outside play. It’s fun inside, too, but I have a lot of multi-colored spots still stuck in my carpet. 🙂
